What is Permanent Patent?

A patent is an exclusive right to an individual or enterprise provided by the government that restricts others from making, using, selling or importing the patented product or process without prior consent. A patentable invention can be any art, process, method or manner of manufacture; machine, apparatus or other articles; manufactured products; machine or apparatus; computer software; product patent for food, chemicals and medicines as well. For an invention to be patentable in India, it should involve an inventive step and be capable of being made or used in an industry. The Intellectual Property department has been initiated by the government to grant full right to register inventions under patent. In return the inventor must produce all the proofs related to the inventions asked by the government.

Patent registration is a process to file an application to register your invention under Patent Act. A patent is valid for 20 years, after which it falls into the public domain.
